Mcilroy Win Takes Focus Off Woods

Rory Mcilroy shot a final round 62 (-10) to win the Quail Hollow Championship by 4 shots from Phil Mickelson. Mcilroy carded 8 birdies and an eagle to smash the course record and earn his first PGA Tour victory, second on all major tours.

Mcilroy's win took the spotlight away from Tiger Woods who completely missed the cut and still looked a troubled man, a shadow of his former self. Woods later blamed his short game for the display. Woods is in danger of losing his world number one status, if the in-form Mickelson wins and Woods is outside the top 5 then Mickelson will be the new world number one. Personally I feel that the drop to number two would be good for Woods as he would be playing catch up for the first time in a while.
