Martin Laird Wins The Arnold Palmer Invitational

Martin Laird held a two shot lead going into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Club and Lodge. That lead quickly disappeared as Laird dropped to five over on the day through eleven and was three shots back from Steve Marino at one stage.

Marino rallied well early on to establish a lead on a particularly poor scoring day at Bay Hill. The back nine produced plenty of drama as Laird doubled eleven, birdied twelve, bogeyed fourteen, birdied fifteen and sixteen then made miraculous par saves at seventeen and eighteen to win by a single stroke. Marino, who was a group ahead of Laird bogeyed fifteen, doubled seventeen having plugged in the front bunker then moved onto the eighteenth two shots back. He took an aggressive line with his second which paid off as he made birdie and posted seven under in the clubhouse. But for Laird's steely composure Marino may well have found himself in a playoff. But he settles for his second runner up finish of the year.

The win was Laird's second on the PGA Tour and puts him in the field for the Masters in two weeks time.

The Nicest Ball Flight Ever?

Just trawling through Tiger Woods videos on YouTube and came across this beauty. Go to the range and try and hit that shot shape with a three wood. You will struggle. I can't wait for Tiger to tee it up at Augusta again. I'm going to be watching it in 3D as well which should add to the occasion. Any other perfect shot shapes you've found out there?

The PGA Tour's next stop is Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. A competition which Tiger Woods has previously dominated. His signs of showing a comeback may well be ignited at the course he has dubbed his 'favourite'.

Tiger Woods Returning To Form?

After Tiger Wood's six under par final round at Doral the golfing world is reveling in a return to form for the now world number five. The fourth round of the Cadillac Championship saw Woods make seven birdies and show more consistency than he has showcased in the last twelve months.

“It’s progressing. I’m still putting the pieces together. I hit a lot of good shots and when I did miss it, I knew exactly what the fix was, which was great,” Woods said.
