Tiger Woods won the first event of his 2013 PGA Tour season last week at Torrey Pines. It was his 7th Victory at the San Diego course including his remarkable last major win at the 2008 US Open. Woods was in imperious form and could afford to stumble down the stretch as he won by 4 shots from Brandt Snedeker having originally held an 8 shot lead. The 75th win of Woods career left him 7 wins away from the all time PGA Tour record held by Sam Snead.
The following week Phil Mickelson went wire-to-wire to win the Phoenix Open by 4 shots from Brandt Snedeker again. Mickelson lipped out on the 18th green in the first round to become the 6th person to record a 59 in PGA Tour history. He settled for an 11 under 60 and never looked back.
